What Larry says

From what was a playful pastime as a child to what now has become a spiritual obsession, sculpture has given me joy, love, meaning, and acceptance with an outlet for my imagination and humor. My unique wood sculpture incorporates a range of expression from the abstract to the realistic: figurative pieces, masks, nature scenes, and architectural accoutrements such as doors, banisters, and mantels.

A distinctive feature of the work is the use of colorful and exotic grained hardwoods from around the world.

Commissions and sales of fine art are also available upon request.

Artists Profile

Larry Lefner reinforces the notion of the artistic visionary in his unique styles of crafting wood. His artwork continually evolves. He has no niche. (He graduated in eastern philosophy!) He strives to stay ahead of those who would define him or his style of sculpture. He contributes an incredibly versatile range of woodworking; a range encompassing nature themes and intriguing characters from fine art to architectural designs. Many residents of Sun Valley and Santa Fe have collected his artwork in the thirty five years he has been a professional sculptor. Since moving to Aspen in 1995, his most notable accomplishments are the nature scenes carved into the walls and beam ends of the Elk Mountain Lodge and the memorial bench in front of the Woody Creek Tavern.
