"Making significant contributions to sculptural excellence"
I invite you to enjoy an innovative, original, and unique side of sculpture in my web presentation. Commissions and sales of fine art are also available upon request.
Artists Profile
Larry Lefner reinforces the notion of the ‘artistic visionary’ in his unique styles of crafting wood. His artwork continually evolves. He has no niche. (He graduated in eastern philosophy!) He strives to stay ahead of those who would define him or his style of sculpture. He contributes an incredibly versatile range of woodworking; a range encompassing nature themes and intriguing characters from fine art to architectural designs.
Many residents of Sun Valley and Santa Fe have collected his artwork in the thirty five years he has been a professional sculptor. Since moving to Aspen in 1995, his most notable accomplishments are the nature scenes carved into the walls and beam ends of the Elk Mountain Lodge and the memorial bench in front of the Woody Creek Tavern. His recent expansion into metal sculpture can be seen in front of Alderfers’s Antiques of Aspen and on Owl Creek Ranch road.
Living Tree Sculpture
In the autumn of 2004 Larry was commissioned by the town of Basalt, Colorado to design and create a sculpture from a living Cottonwood tree. With the hope that the tree will continue to grow, this is certainly an unprecedented project. The fly fisherman that Larry created represents the areas reputation for world class fly fishing.
